Well here we are at the final running weekend of the year, and all efforts now focus on the Santa trains….
Normally the last weekend of the running year is a sedate affair with a basic winter service. However this year the railway finished with a special event.
We have the third visit to the railway of Tornado, for the first time visiting in it’s blue livery.
The train was nicely full for many services and the people we spoke to enjoyed the days.
So here are some pictures taken at Orton Mere, and before anybody sends me an email asking yes that is rain pouring down in the one picture showing one of the crews on Saturday.
Certainly on the Saturday the weather was mixed with everything from heavy rain to sunshine. Here are a couple of pictures of the platforms after the rain when the sun started to shine.
Finally as this was the last running day of the year I would like to thank all those who have helped me run Orton Mere this year, your help has been much appreciated.
My thanks also without exception to ALL the working members of the railway, thanks for your humour, patience, knowledge and also with the money you have parted with.
We will do it again all next year……..
I will continue with railway themed postings through the winter, after all the railway and it’s volunteers are never idle, despite what you might think form the odd pictures knocking about of me having the occasional doze at the station.
